06/05/2007: "men grow down"
music: ringing of the phones
mood: fine but bleh

I work in an office building where I sit right in front of the elevators. Which makes sense cause as a receptionist I should be the first face people see when they enter the executive floor. However the building is not entirely ours and we share it with another organization. Which is also pretty common space being a premium in this city. I don't know if its cause I am new, or if these guys really have nothing else going on but there are a couple of guys who work in this building who every time they go up or down in the elevator, if they happen to stop on my floor they have to make eyes and wave. One of the guys I know is in maintenance so it makes sense that he is in the elevator a lot. But the other one I'm not so sure. Anyways, the first couple of times fine, it was cute I guess for two grown men to waving from the elevator at me like school girls. But now its just kinda creepy. These aren't young mid 20 guys (I take that back one of them probably is) But the other one is probably old enough to be my father. Further how "fifth grade" is it for them to be just waving from the elevator. They don't come in to talk or anything. They might as well pass a note to the other girl I work with who is the morning receptionist that says "I like you. Do you like me? check box yes or no" like we used to pass around in middle school. If you really want me to take you seriously have a little backbone and step off the elevator. rolls eyes

So the subject says men grow down. Ive decided ultimately thats true. as children boys are probably the most endearing they are ever going to be. All they want is their mothers attention and they generally flock to the opposite sex even as youths - granted some of their ideas of gifts which vary from bugs and dirt are not the candy and flowers women say they want, but hey beggars cant be choosers. As they get older I think men tend to forget their mothers or the women who took care of them. Sure when pro football players win some game they also say "I love you Mom!" but when it comes to the women they choose as their partners and then how they treat them - it seems to me that they are more "childlike" Grown men throw temper tantrums when they don't get their way. Its not obvious, they don't sit on the ground and bang their fists, but you know when they are mad or upset about something. And rather than bugs and dirt we may get the obligatory flowers and candy, but never just because - isnt it usually because they did something wrong. Men can go from diapers to diapers, but I guarantee you the male species is at its emotional best as children. razz
